For Thanksgiving this year we trekked to Sebastian, Florida - a.k.a. Barefoot Bay. Nice community located on the East Coast of FL, in between Cocoa Beach and Vero Beach. This is the new winter home of Dennis' mother and her boyfriend. Here's a photo of the four of us one night after dinner:
During our trip we were able to spend plenty of time at the beach. Water was a bit cold and there were other 'deterrents' keeping us out of the water:
And yes, it was really that close. I'm standing approx. 7-8 feet away from this shark. It was pretty amazing watching him cut through the water eating fish. Every once in awhile we would see 10 - 15 fish literally jump out of the water trying to avoid being eaten. There were some dogs on the beach trying to get out into the water at the shark. Didn't get to see any of them get eaten though.
